Why Choose Ames Performance Physical Therapy?
Physical therapy at United Movement is intentionally different. Our model is designed to provide personalized care, objective assessment, and a seamless path from recovery to performance.
One-on-One Care, Every Visit
Your treatment is always provided by a Doctor of Physical Therapy. You won't be shuffled between providers, handed a sheet of exercises, or left to navigate your recovery alone. Every session is focused on you, your goals and your progress.
We Assess How You Move, Not Just Where It Hurts
Pain is often only part of the story. We take a deeper look at movement patterns to identify the underlying factors contributing to injury, dysfunction, or performance limitations.
Our assessment tools may include:
Kinetisense 3D Motion Analysis
Gait and running evaluation
Strength and power testing
Functional movement analysis
Hands-On Treatment Meets Movement Retraining
Manual therapy can help reduce pain and improve mobility, but lasting results require movement change. We combine skilled hands-on care with targeted movement retraining to help you build resilience and prevent issues from returning.
A Clear Path from Rehab to Performance
Recovery doesn't end when pain goes away. We bridge the gap between physical therapy, strength training, and performance so you can return to the activities you love with confidence.
A Collaborative Team Approach
Your physical therapist works closely with our trainers, Pilates instructors, and chiropractors to ensure your care is coordinated and aligned with your goals. This integrated model creates a comprehensive plan designed to help you move, feel, and perform at your best.
What to Expect at Your First Visit
Your 60-minute initial evaluation is designed to help us understand your goals, identify the root cause of your symptoms, and create a clear path forward.
Conversation & History
Every visit begins with a conversation. We want to understand your story—what you're experiencing, what you've tried before, what has or hasn't worked, and what activities you want to get back to.
Comprehensive Movement Assessment
We look beyond the site of pain to understand how your body moves as a whole. Depending on your needs, your evaluation may include:
Kinetisense 3D posture and movement analysis
Gait and running assessment
Functional movement screening
Joint mobility testing
Soft tissue evaluation
Strength and performance testing
Treatment
Your first visit will likely include treatment. Treatment may include:
Strategies to reduce pain
Exercises to improve mobility or flexibility
Soft tissue mobilizations
Joint mobilization
Neuromuscular activation techniques
Movement Retraining
Progressive strength training
Your Personalized Plan
Before you leave, you'll have a clear understanding of what's contributing to your symptoms, what needs to improve, and how we'll work together to reach your goals. Your plan is tailored specifically to your needs and integrated as necessary within the broader United Movement system.
Ongoing Support & Next Steps
Depending on your goals and wants, your care may include collaboration with other members of the United Movement team, including Pilates instructors, massage therapists, personal trainers, and chiropractors. This team-based approach helps create a seamless progression from recovery to long-term health and performance.
